Fuerteventura's Caleta de Fuste as a travel destination.
I moved to Fuerteventura almost three years ago now, and have to say that its the best thing I have ever done. My only regret is that I didn't do it much sooner. I hadn't even planned the move, it just happened that way.
My job in the UK was great, I loved work, my friends, my family, but then my job ended badly, and I thought..."why not?". I chose to share my "why not?" with my girlfriend, and she agreed with me, why not indeed. Well from that moment it took five weeks to finally arrive and call this island home.
Now this isn't the reason I am writing this, no, its because fuerteventura is such a fantastic location for a holiday, especially Caleta de Fuste, or Costa Caleta as it's also known.
Caleta de Fuste is not the biggest of towns; its set in a horseshoe cove and is just south of the airport. It has beautiful man-made and (more importantly) child-friendly beaches, plenty of bars for the adults, as well as loads of restaurants. And if you are worried about what to do with the kids; everyone here is expecting you to bring your family, so all bars and restaurants welcome them. The Fuerteventuran's are very family orientated.
The main town is small and everywhere is within easy walking distance, but only if you want to; there are plenty of low priced and licensed cabs, and any journey around town will be less than 3 euros.
Its a very neat and tidy place, with little or no litter or graffiti, its inhabitants are good people, and this is demonstated by very little crime.
The town has four main areas, the White Centre, Downtown, Chipmunk Mountain, and Atlantico; all these are spread out, but are not far from each other. Plus with the almost year-round sunshine, a stroll isn't such a hardship.
Come and say hi to us in Caleta de Fuste & Fuerteventura, check out the white sands, the blue seas; do a little walking, partying, maybe people watch or take a trip. Or if you don't fancy any of that, then simply relax.
And if relaxing is not your thing, then check out the water-sports we are so famous for: surfing, windsurfing, scuba, snorkeling, jet-skis, boat hire, excursions. I could go on, but I won't.
I'm sure I will see you here in the sunshine, look lout for me, I'll be the relaxed fella holding a cold beer and looking all bronzed and interesting.
